bradley manning

Oh say can you see

Bradley Manning in a tiny cell

Naked and alone in a private hell

by the dawn’s early light

Locked in solitary for so long now

No trial, no conviction but punished anyhow

what so proudly we hail

They say he gave WikiLeaks the documents

That show the dark side of our government

I pledge allegiance to the flag

Are patriots the ones who commit the crimes

Or the whistleblowers who draw the lines?

one nation under God

Like Ellsberg before him it took courage to act

And we’ve got laws to protect him for that

with liberty and justice for all

This isn’t justice, it’s a warning shot

Don’t do what he did or you’ll get what he got

America, America, God shed His grace on thee

Bradley Manning in a tiny cell

Naked and alone in a private hell

And crowned thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea
