Slaughter of Innocents

1) It was a day just like any other in a city of hurrying crowds

People making their way to the building with the towers way up in the clouds

2) A warm sunny day in September, with no warning of danger or threat

But it turned into a nightmare with the roar of an in-coming jet

3) First one then the other saw the targets, two pilots with deadly intent

And they flew straight into the towers and the slaughter of innocents

Is it evil that makes men such killers?

Some race or religion we hate?

Is it the rich and the poor locked in a war?

Is it fear, is it rage, is it fate?

4) There was fire and blood in the hallways, explosions and shattering glass

There was crying and screaming, some jumped from the flames as the building went down with a crash

5) Now thousands are dead in the ruins, we’ve been shaken right down to the core

So many are calling for vengeance and beating the drums of war   Chorus

It’s justice we need not more killing, nobody’s hands are clean

There’ll be no peace for the living ‘til we know what the dead really mean

‘Cause an eye for an eye isn’t Jesus, it’s not Buddha, Mohammed or God

Nobody gets into Heaven with murder, crusades or jihad   Chorus

6) It’s one world, one people, one future nothing else makes any sense

We’re all in this together in the slaughter of innocents

We’re all in this together

We’ll live and die together

We’re all in this together

In the slaughter of innocents
